Celebrating the shared pride of Buffalo/Niagara, colorful and symbolic postage stamps from Canada and the United States create a historic tribute to the region. Collages of stamp imagery cover this guitar—with bison at the base and Niagara Falls on the neck (including a 1948 stamp commemorating “A Century of Friendship.”)
Mead is an award-winning artist and adjunct professor of design at Buffalo State College. The former curator of the Burchfield-Penney Art Center also conducts art-making workshops through Young Audiences Inc.
Known for his small, photography-based collages/assemblages, Mead’s works appear in prominent permanent collections (including the Albright-Knox Art Gallery’s) as well as exhibitions throughout the United States and Great Britain.
