This colorful mosaic is a fretwork of guitar-shaped tesserae, handmade polymer clay tiles, which create frames for playful, individual pictures. Some images reflect the artists’ favorite “themes:” snowflakes, lilacs, bugs, frogs, dogs; others represent Buffalo: bison, a lighthouse, and city landmarks.
Kathy Fiete makes use of several of her innovations for creating mosaics out of polymer clay. Trained as an archaeologist and museum educator, she teaches art and cooking for the Perinton Recreation and Parks Department.
Bob Fiete has worked with his wife on major public projects across the state, including “Horses on Parade” (Rochester); “Deer on Parade” (Canandaigua) and “Art on Wheels” (Buffalo).
