Using the intricate, ancient art of mosaics, this artist creates a work of brilliant optimism. Stylized walnut leaves, a symbol of hope, encircle the guitar’s perimeter. The “hole” features a fuchsia primula, surrounded by gold. This small flower is one of the first to bloom in the spring. The green background along the perimeter gradually lightens towards the center, blending into an opalescent white. The bridge is mirrored tesserae, signifying “reflection,” as we see ourselves in the good we do for others. The colors express the myriad possibilities with which we can brighten others’ lives.
Cemulini fostered her technique and earned her degree at the Accademia Cappiello in Florence, Italy.
