Covered in oil paint, this guitar depicts a band performance. The image wraps around the sides and onto the back, creating a full, 360-degree view.
Callisto’s large-scale, non-representational paintings are intensely personal abstractions full of bravado and dimension. Her skillful use of light and shadow creates dynamic landscapes of multi-layered, secret spaces and overt shapes. She stopped painting for six years while her father was ill, then resumed once his health was restored. This six-year hiatus for the artist was symbolic of how personal journeys are intense and draining. |
