WNED joined with the Canisius College Video Institute to produce Heart Strings, a documentary that chronicles the initial stages of the Guitars for Hope public art project. Communication Studies and Digital Media Arts majors Nina Cimino, Nicholas Barone, Ignayra Ramos and Michael Woeppel have been working under the direction of Dr. Barbara Irwin, Chair of the Communication Studies Department and director of the Video Institute, to produce this 30-minute video featuring the artists and their work in bringing the guitars to life. The Canisius College Video Institute is funded in part by the John R. Oishei Foundation.

Dr. Irwin and her team are very excited about the public art project and have worked closely with WNED's producer on the project, Mindy Fox, to develop the program for broadcast on WNED. The documentary has allowed the Canisius students a unique opportunity to not only showcase their talents but to give something back to the community as well.
